In preparation for Quik’s Book of David album (no leak yet!), and after reading the Vibe piece where he breaks down the highlights of his catalog, I’ve been pumping a lot of his old material (even the stuff w/ Shaq. Ha!). One of my favorites is from the basically unknown compilation the Konnectid Project Vol. 1, which dropped in the summer of 2000. I was heavy into the Quiksta that summer as he was red hot with Balance & Options and the joint with Erick Sermon and Xzibit. I copped this compilation off GP for probably $19.99 at the local Sam Goody, even though the cover looked like shit and I really had no idea what it was. Hey Quik was on most of it and Xzibit was on a song! Anyway, the comp wasn’t too bad, a lot of bangers and some duds, but this joint in particular brings me back to sunny summer days in between college semesters. Such a beautiful record. Suga Free gets all the way off.
